It also supports my body against such diseases as rheumatoid arthritis it also helps promote colon health thanks to the high amounts of vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta carotene.

Did you know that studies have shown that those who have the highest intake of vitamin E have one-third the risk of receiving colon cancer? I could also write about the benefits of cayenne pepper and how it has been used to lower the cholesterol, prevent heart attacks, clear nasal congestion, effectively stop stomach ulcers.

Finding one New Year’s resolution to write about is hard because there are many things that factor into having phenomenal health. However, I can think of one tip you can do that will ultimately enhance your lifestyle for this upcoming year if you are willing to put it into practice. To make phenomenal achievements to your health you first need to change the way you view the foods you consume. You need to think about the effect they can potentially have on your body.

Many foods that some of us consume are unhealthy. Take a look at the health stats in westernized societies. The statistics are sobering. There is a huge disconnect between nutrition and disease. We need to change our thought process. Sounds easy, right? Not necessarily--change can be hard. If you are making unhealthy food choices, it’s time to give your relationship with food a major overhaul. Your mind is extremely powerful.

Guess what? I wasn’t particularly fond of greens like kale, collards, and turnip greens about five years ago. I found them to be extremely bitter. I didn’t like eating them. However, knowing how important they were I gradually started incorporating them into my lifestyle. I always thought of ways I could slip them into my meals. I lightly sauteed and steamed them, as time progressed I found they wasn't so bad.

My tastes had changed. I didn’t steam them as much. I was almost eating them raw. Confident I started adding them to my fruit smoothies and freshly juiced drinks I made. I got to the point where I could eat them raw. Those changes didn't happen overnight and to eat those dreaded greens I had to be willing to change my thought process. A few lines that were determined to make their way onto my skin around that time were stopped in their tracks. Hmm, maybe I’ve found the fountain of youth? ;-)

Have I seen changes by making that simple change in my thought process? Four years ago, at my optometrist appointment, my eye optometrist commented on how healthy my eyes looked upon further examination he discovered that my eyesight had improved. Impressed he asked me what had I was doing? I told him I had upped my intake of greens and carrots. Although I had *thought* my eyesight had improved it was nice to see proof that this had actually happened.

I’ve always had a lot of energy but since I changed my thought process I’ve seen added improvements in my energy. It’s even higher now than ever. I’m loving it. My bowel health has increased, and I now eliminate three times daily. My hair has always grown fast but making that simple change in my thought processes my hair has become thicker and is growing even faster.

After you take care of yourself by changing your thought process why not pamper your skin with a delightfully yummy sugar scrub?

Healing Yourself Naturally’s Stimulating Sugar Scrub

* 3/4 cup raw turbinado sugar (you could use brown sugar)
* 1/4 - 1/2 cup coconut oil
* 2 drops of peppermint essential oil

Directions 1. Add sugar into a mixing bowl
2. Gradually add the coconut oil until you reach your desired texture
3. Add peppermint essential oil
4. Stir thoroughly

If your skin is sunburned or irritated do not exfoliate your skin! When you apply the scrub to your skin avoid cuts or sensitive areas.

Application
1. Massage gently onto skin (I use my hands but you can use a shower glove or loofah)
2. Let sit on skin for 3-5 minutes
3. Rinse
4. Enjoy your baby soft skin

Items Needed That You Might Not Have At Home * 1 glass or plastic jar
* Raw Coconut Oil
* Organic Sucanet Sugar or brown sugar
* Peppermint essential oil

Although the ingredients within the scrub have numerous benefits I’ll focus on what I used them for.

Peppermint essential oil

* Stimulating
* Improves mental
* Natural laxative

Raw Coconut Oil

* Rejuvenates skin
* Aids in wrinkle prevention

Turbinado Sugar

* Aids in removing dead skin

If you’re new to any of the ingredients that I’ve listed above. Always do a patch test! Although the ingredients are natural you can still receive a reaction to natural products.

What’s my New Years Resolution to you? Change your thought process about the foods you consume. Are they helping or hindering you? Make a positive change. Realize that what you consume will (usually) affect how you feel or the problems you may experience. Don’t you think you owe it to yourself to make a positive change with your health?

You have only one body take care of it fill it with healthy, foods that are delicious, nourishing, and healing. Your body will love the added nutrients that you are supplying it with, and it will reward you by the changes that you receive internally and externally.

    This recipe sounds good enough to eat. My husband and I are trying to become vegan this year. I appreciate learning about your sites so I can get more info about changing safely.
    Thanks,
    Brennan
