Dark Under Eye Circles

racoon_eyesThere are not many skin conditions that natural skin care can’t help; however, I will admit that one of the most difficult to treat is dark under eye circles. I’m not talking about the kind you get from staying up late now and then. This is more severe.

Often it is an inherited condition and even with a good diet, quality sleep, and good skin care, the condition is still there. I’ve even seen young children with it, which makes it seem more likely that it is an inherited skin condition. Nevertheless, no one wants to carry a set of luggage under their eyes.

Assuming you’re already doing all the things you should regarding sleep, diet, and not abusing yourself in other ways, your dark circles are probably an inherited condition. The tiny capillaries in the tissue under the eye break, blood pools, and the result is the dark purple color we see under the eyes. If your circles have a brown or yellow tint to them, it’s probably due to lack of sleep or an allergy, but only a visit to the doctor will give you a definite answer.

Remember a few months back when I was reading Almond Eyes, Lotus Feet? Well, that’s where this remedy comes from. Grind a few pistachio nuts and add a teaspoon of milk to make a paste. Apply this to the delicate skin around the eyes. After half an hour, wash it off. This is not an overnight remedy so don’t try it twice and abandon it because it doesn’t work. It will take at least two or three months of doing this nightly to see any difference at all.

Another cure that comes from ayurveda is to apply a paste of turmeric powder and pineapple juice. If you have access to fresh figs, cut them in half and place each half under your eyes for 30 minutes daily. Wash the residue off with tepid water.

As I said, this is a difficult condition. It’s the most common skin complaint after acne. Studies show that allergies, fatigue, stress, smoking, drinking alcohol and caffeinated beverages can make dark eye circles worse. So if you want to skip the natural cures, try Hylexin.

Keep in mind this will only work for under eye circles due to broken capillaries. If yours are due to allergy or some other problem, it won’t be successful. If your dark under eye circles continue, see a doctor. They could be due to a vitamin deficiency or allergy to something in your environment.

I always wondered what caused those dark circles uner people’s eyes. Good explanation. I also like the use of natural remedies first. They do take longer, but in the long run, they’re safer.

I inherited my raccoon eyes from my mother. Ugh. Anyway, what I found works for me is an eye cream called Extreme Eye Rescue by Isabella Pelle. I searched high and low for an eye cream that helped with dark undereye circles and puffiness – and this is it for me. It’s fairly inexpensive and does what it says it does. It’s done a great job of reducing my undereye darkness and my puffiness is completely gone. I also feel that the skin around my eyes looks younger, probably due to the retinol in it. As an added bonus, the company offers free shipping on all orders – which is great b/c every penny counts these days! Check them out online ;) .

I agree about the natural remedies taking a little longer. Isn’t it worth it not to load up your skin with potentially harmful chemicals?

I use a product for under my eyes that works wonders and it isn’t heavily laced with all those chemicals. It works wonderfully and yes it takes longer. Of course, I sell it but I make sure I use it so it’s not just about the money. I think everyone should use natural products to help clear up damaged skinUse can use a concealer while you are waiting for things to heal but that’s my 411 :-)
