I’ve Got A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts

coconut oilI’ve been hearing a lot about coconut oil and how good it is for you. The buzz is that it makes a great cooking oil and is really moisturizing. In truth, coconut oil is one of the few saturated fats that comes from a plant. Most saturated fats come from an animal source. Coconut oil also contains lauric acid which has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

Antiaging Secrets: Toners vs. Astringents

Aging SkinWhy don’t young people have wrinkles? Mostly because they have more facial fat, no sun damage, and gravity hasn’t taken its toll. As we age, laugh lines appear around the mouth and eyes. You Love Me! You Really Love Me!

Flickr Photo ContestI’d like to thank all the little people . . . Seriously, I usually don’t even get honorable mention in prize contests, but I think my luck is changing. Last month I entered The Flicker Group Photo Contest sponsored by From Nature With Love. I love their blog because they showcase some great natural products and recipes. The pictures were all so stunning I didn’t think I stood much of a chance.

Long story short, I was among three winners of a lovely gift package, and believe me I’ll be putting the products to good use. My package contained poppy seed oil, rice powder, goat’s milk powder, yellow kaolin clay, organic nilotica shea butter, and pink rose petals. I’ll be posting recipes in the coming days for using these great products. I plan on pre-pooing with the poppy seed oil today. Yea!

Calendula Redux

CalendulaRemember Calendula, 2008 Herb of the Year? I’ve been having good luck with it, so I thought I’d point to some great products that include Calendula and revisit the properties of this great herb. Calendula has been used in homeopathy since the 1840s to promote wound healing for ulcers, burns, and lacerations. Calendula does not kill bacteria, but contains it so that the body is able to cure itself. Today, we also use Calendula in skin toners, creams, and bath products.
